Bishop L.J. Emery

We "Jesus and I" believe that the Scriptures are to be lived out 100%. As the Apostle Paul declared: "No more I, but Christ that liveth within." We stand firmly on what Jude exhorted:
"That ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints." This means standing on the unchanging Word of God without compromise, without altering truth to fit mankind’s standards or lifestyles. We believe holiness must be preached under the full anointing of the Holy Ghost. Along with the standard Jesus Christ set through the Apostle Peter and the rest of the apostles. We stand for true sanctification that produces holiness and righteous living, “coupled with signs and wonders following”, and Jesus confirming the word. Holiness is the standard by which sanctified people are called to live. As the Lord said through the prophet: seek and ask for the old path which is the good way. We are continuing steadfast in the apostles' doctrine. 44 years in counting of keeping the standard of holiness.

My Story

The calling and ministry of Larry Emery began in 1982. It was at this time that he met an evangelist on his job named Fredrick Miller. Evangelist Miller would witness to Pastor Emery and share the Gospel message according to Acts 2:38, which is repentance, baptism in the name Jesus Christ and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost. Later, Pastor Emery came to Bibleway United Pentecostal Church at the invitation of Evangelist Miller. It was at these services that Pastor Emery heard Pastor Abraham Washington preach about holiness, repentance of sins, and living a holy and sanctified life.

After hearing this message, God convicted him and he began to realize that he did not have everything that he needed to go back with the Lord at His return. Pastor Emery made the decision to be baptized in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ and he tarried at the altar until he received the gift of the Holy Ghost which was evidenced by his speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gave him utterance.

At Bibleway, Pastor Emery encountered many powerful and anointed men of God that mentored and poured into his life. Bishop Huey Lee was one such person. Bishop Lee also ordained Pastor Emery to be pastor of New Bethel Apostolic Church, which was later re-named, Church of the Lord Jesus Christ True Holiness. Pastor Washington continued to help Pastor Emery in the ministry until his death. Bishop Clifton Jones of Philadelphia, MS, has been instrumental to Pastor Emery over the years.

Since heeding God's call to preach the gospel to the broken hearted, God has tremendously blessed Pastor Emery. God has allowed him to heal the sick, cast out devils and win many souls to Christ. Pastor Emery is a husband, father and businessman. He has been married to the same woman, his lovely wife,  Lady B. Emery over 40 years.
